As 2014 comes to an end, I am thrilled that all 9 revitalized homes on the 200 block of North Madeira Street have been sold.  Thus, the "Casitas at Madeira" project is complete.

I am energized to begin "Residences at Washington Street".  Three row homes are under construction on the 1000 block of North Washington Street, two blocks from Johns Hopkins Hospital. One unit is already under contract.  All units qualify for a $10,000 Vacant to Value grant, $36,000 from Hopkins Live Near Your Work and have secured Historic Tax Credits.

I also want to share three interviews that have been recently aired, the first in English featured on ABC Chanel 2, the second  in English/Spanglish/Spanish conducted by The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the third in Spanish, available on iTunes Podcasts conducted by Marcie Quintana, of Hispanic Entrepreneur.

*Diana T. Gaines is Guest Speaker at Vacants to Value Second Anniversary Celebration
"Good Morning! My name is Diana Gaines and I am the Hispanic, woman developer behind the efforts of Tu Casa Development Group. Muchos saludos a mis amigos hispanos. Two and a half years ago I was a homemaker looking for a venture to complement my stay at home status. The Vacants to Value Program was the answer to my search. Three main components sealed my decision: 1) V2V provided a simple path that I could follow, the application process was straightforward and the staff managing it exceptional, 2) the $10,000 Booster
Incentive was a very valuable asset for potential buyers and 3) investing in the City was consistent with my belief that our country’s economic resurgence will begin in our inner cities, so why not start with my own city of Baltimore? In order to maximize the impact of my commitment to fight blight I targeted a cluster footprint on the 200 block of North Madeira Street. I now own 9 properties on this quaint and quiet street. My journey as a formal partner of the City’s Vacants to Value Program has been life-changing. I would like to thank my general contractor, Mr. Kevin Butler, for helping me build an extraordinary product and for your patience with my loads of questions. I would also like to thank the fabulous staff at Baltimore Housing- you know who you are- for your amazing guidance along the way. You have proven to be very effective mentors. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings, I would like to personally thank you for having the vision to establish a Program that produces so much success and for your commitment to replenishing the Booster Incentive as needed, it is critical to our continued success.
In closing, I would like to say that there has never been a better time to be a developer and a homebuyer in Baltimore City and I invite all of you to visit the 200 Block of North Madeira Street where the transition from Vacant to Value, or to use my own tag line, from “Ordinary to Extraordinary”, is very evident. Thank you for listening!"
